What it's for

You can use special seeds in the greenhouse to breed exotic fruits, which you can then load onto Captain Barnacle's ship when he docks in the harbor and asks for them.

Premium sugar melon seeds are among the most expensive greenhouse seeds, they cost 15500 gold and unlock at level 30. I use them in the greenhouse on the main farm, the gourmet farm or the flower farm, where they grow into Sugar melons. Those are meant for Captain Barnacle's ship whenever he's asking for sugar melons in the harbor.

How to get it

The seeds aren't sold in the shop and they have no production recipe, so I can neither buy them nor craft them the usual way, they have to reach me some other route. At 15500 gold they're one of the priciest items among the greenhouse seeds, so I save them strictly for the moment when I know for sure the sugar melons will actually get used.

What to do with it

The seeds grow into a Sugar melon in the greenhouse, which I then ship out to Captain Barnacle's boat the moment he's asking for sugar melons in the harbor.

Tip from a veteran player With a resource this expensive I never start production ahead of time for stock, I wait until Barnacle explicitly asks for sugar melons and only then use the seeds up.

Most common mistake The costliest mistake is starting a batch of sugar melons when the ship isn't asking for them at all, because that's where losing 15500 gold stings the most.
