What it's for
Grow in island fields and can be made into peacock feed in the tropical mill.
Peanuts grow on Island fields just like oranges, but they head somewhere else - to the tropical mill, where they're turned into peacock feed. So they're a purely intermediate ingredient, not goods for sale. They're available from level 30, you can't buy them in the shop, and their base value is 70 Island dollars.
How to get it
The Island dollar recipe is slower for peanuts than for oranges - on a level 4 field you get 700 units for 1700 Island dollars and an hour and ten minutes. The seed recipe, specifically 1 Special peanut seed, gives 2100 units at the same level in 5 hours 50 minutes, so three times as much for a single input. The seed is worth using overnight or before a longer break from the game, when you won't check the field for a few hours anyway.
What to do with it
Peanuts can't be sold as finished goods, their only use is peacock feed from the tropical mill. Without peanuts this feed can't be produced.
