Fish market

Special buildings Fishing area

I treat the fish market more as an organizing point for fishing than as a production building, but there's no doing without it in the Fishing area.

The fish market is a big 9×8 special building you'll only find in the Fishing area. I didn't buy mine in the shop - I got it another way, by completing a quest while unlocking this farm. It works as your fishing base, the spot you come back to with your catch and where you restock your tackle box. It's most useful for players who want to squeeze the most out of the Fishing area and don't want to keep heading out with an empty kit.

When to build it

Since the fish market can't be bought for dollars, the question of when to build it doesn't apply here - as soon as you get it, place it on the farm. Because of its 9×8 size I'd set space aside for it in the Fishing area right at the start, so you don't run short of room for the other buildings. One is all you need, you'd have nowhere to put a second one anyway.

Is it worth upgrading

The fish market has no further level of its own, so you don't upgrade it the way you would a normal production building. What worked for me is to deal with the equipment instead - the rod, line, hook and the other extras in your tackle box, plus a suitable boat, whether that's the trawler, the motorboat, the motor barge or the punt. Better gear and the right boat raise your chances of a quality catch, even though the building itself stays at one level.

Tip from a veteran player Before I head out fishing I fill my tackle box with several pieces of equipment at once - I can swap them around while I'm fishing, but only from what I happen to have on me.
Most common mistake The most common mistake is heading to another farm with the same gear and expecting the same fish - Oleg Fisher has a different offer on every farm, so it pays to pay him another visit when you move on to a new farm.
