What it's for

Special saffron seeds are grown in the conservatory and have a growth rate and yield amount that is different from the normal seeds.

Special saffron seeds are a different version of the regular saffron seeds, and you grow them in the Winter garden on the Obsidian farm. They have a different growth speed and different yields than the classic seeds, so they change how fast and how much saffron your volcanic field ends up giving you. It's an intermediate step in your farm's economy, not a finished product to sell. You won't find it in the shop, you can only make it yourself.

How to get it

The only source of special saffron seeds is the Winter garden, the shop doesn't stock them. The recipe doesn't change with the building level - three resources in a ratio of 6 to 50 to 10 turn into 2 units per batch in 30 minutes. With a pace this slow it pays to keep the Winter garden running all the time, instead of firing it up only when you need the seeds right away.

What to do with it

These seeds belong on a volcanic field or a fertile volcanic field, where they grow into saffron. They have no other use, they never go up for sale or into further processing.

Tip from a veteran player Before I plant saffron across the whole volcanic field, I work out in advance how many 30-minute batches from the Winter garden it's going to take.

Most common mistake An early mistake is leaving the Winter garden idle and then discovering you don't have enough seeds stocked up to sow saffron on the volcanic field.
