The ice cream van is a small 1x1 production building from the Cooperative village that turns eggs and milk into ice cream. It sits right at the end of the farm's food chain - you don't grow anything in it, you just process ingredients you already have from the Chicken coop and the Cowshed. It fits in next to the corn stand and the fruit bar, and together they make up the cooperative village's little sweets industry. It's mainly for active cooperative members who want sweets on hand for cooperative challenges like the village fete, not for solo players outside a cooperative.

When to build it

The van isn't sold in the Shop, you get it another way - by finishing a task, by unlocking the Cooperative village or from an event. Once you have it, go ahead and build it straight away, because it costs you nothing and takes up just one tile. One is enough - your eggs and milk are limited and you can only make one ice cream at a time anyway, so a second van would just sit there taking up space.

Is it worth upgrading

The ice cream recipe stays the same at every level - you still get one in 6 minutes - what changes is how many ingredients you can cram into a single batch. At the start one egg and two milk will do, at the top level the van works through dozens of eggs at once and also demands vanilla, alpaca milk and cream. I don't have the costs or durations of the individual upgrades, but the gap between the first and the top level makes it clear that a higher level mainly saves you clicks - you process far more ingredients in one go without having to restart production over and over.
