What it's for

Special tomato seeds are grown in the conservatory and have a growth rate and yield amount that is different from the normal seeds.

Special tomato seed is a resource you don't buy in the shop but grow yourself in the Winter garden on the Obsidian farm. It differs from ordinary tomato seed in growth speed and yield, so you plan your cycles around it differently. It's the input resource for the Volcanic field, where it grows into Tomatoes. In the Obsidian farm economy it's the link between the Winter garden and tomato production out on the field.

How to get it

The only way to get the seed is to craft it in the Winter garden, it never reaches the shop. The recipe is the same at all six levels of the building, three resources give you 2 units in 30 minutes, so building up a bigger stock means running it over and over. Since the yield doesn't change with the building level, upgrading the Winter garden pays off for other recipes rather than for this seed.

What to do with it

You send the seed straight to the Volcanic field or the Fertile volcanic field, where it grows into Tomatoes. Outside of that planting it has no other use in the game.

Tip from a veteran player I always craft the seed right before I'm about to plant the Volcanic field, so it doesn't sit in my storage for nothing.

Most common mistake Players often expect a higher Winter garden level to raise the seed yield, but the recipe is the same at every level, so there's no point counting on that improvement.
