Tropical house – Goodgame Big FarmTropical house – Level 1

Tropical house

Houses Main farm Gourmet farm Flower farm

A solid way to get more workers on these three farms, but with the growing unhappiness and the extremely pricey higher levels I'd build and upgrade it gradually, as you actually need it, not in a rush.

What it's for

A tropical house accommodates more workers than a simple one, and the South Pacific air makes your workers feel like they're on vacation.

The tropical house is a house for three specific farms, the Main farm, the Gourmet farm and the Flower farm, and you only get to it at player level 29. What it does is simple, it adds residents and with them room for more workers in the production buildings on that farm. It takes up 5x5 tiles and unlike ordinary houses you can't just buy it in the building shop, so it's not a building you have available from the start. It mainly suits farms that are already well under way and short of people to staff production, not fresh beginners.

When to build it

As soon as you reach level 29 on one of those three farms and you're short of workers there, go ahead and put this house down. The first level only costs you the build time (20 minutes) and 100 XP, you pay nothing in dollars. How many you line up side by side depends purely on the free 5x5 space and on how many more residents you still need, I don't see any limit on the number in the game's help. Bear in mind, though, that the higher levels of the house are locked behind further jumps in player level (39, 44, 49, then 114 and finally 124 and 134), so you'll be unlocking it gradually as your character grows.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading makes sense step by step up to level 6 (player level 49, 520,000 dollars, 36 residents), and then comes a big jump. Level 7 needs player level 114 and the house costs you 1,400,000 dollars. The last three levels (8 to 10) cost millions of dollars, but they take you up to 59 residents. Every level also deepens the unhappiness, from -35 at the start to -260 at level ten, so upgrading without a matching batch of decorations and more houses will do you more harm than good.

Tip from a veteran player Don't upgrade the house blindly to max, keep an eye on how many workers you can realistically use on that farm, because every level adds a bigger and bigger minus to happiness and you have to make that up with decorations or more houses.
Most common mistake The most common mistake is upgrading the house to a higher level before you have enough decorations and houses on the farm to offset the unhappiness. Happiness directly drives your production costs, so you're needlessly making your own production more expensive.
