Farmhouse – Goodgame Big FarmFarmhouse – Level 1

Farmhouse

Farmhouse Viking farm

The farmhouse produces nothing interesting on its own, but if you don't upgrade it you'll hit the worker ceiling sooner than you'd expect. It's one of those buildings you shouldn't underestimate just because it doesn't produce anything.

What it's for

The farmhouse determines the construction speed on your farm and is home to several workers.

The farmhouse is the core 8x6 building of the Viking farm, and you don't buy it in the shop - you get it another way right when you found the farm. It sets the pace at which everything else on the farm gets built and upgraded, and part of your workforce lives in it as well. In the farm's economy it's a bit of background infrastructure - it produces nothing itself, but without it you'd have nobody to fill the other buildings. It's a building for everyone who is starting up the Viking farm and wants enough workers to staff their production buildings.

When to build it

You don't build the farmhouse yourself, you get it automatically along with the Viking farm, so the question of when to build it doesn't apply here - the only thing to decide is when to upgrade it. It's worth doing every time you start running out of resident capacity and have nowhere to put new workers for the workshop or the fields. There's only one on the farm, so you don't have to worry about multiple copies.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading makes sense because every level raises the number of residents the building can hold - from 17 at level one through 21 and 24 up to 28 at level four. More residents means more free workers for the workshop, the fields and the rest of the farm. The price climbs fast, from 240 thousand snow dollars for level two all the way to 5.5 million for level four, and the build time stretches to 6 hours, so it pays to upgrade gradually as you run out of room for workers rather than rushing it to the max.

Tip from a veteran player Check the number of residents in the farmhouse before you start building another production building with heavy worker demands - otherwise you'll finish it and have nobody to staff it with.
Most common mistake An early mistake is leaving the farmhouse at level one while building and upgrading production buildings that eat a lot of workers - the farm then doesn't have enough people and some buildings sit empty.
