What it's for

The doghouse is where your very own farm dog lives. If you feed it well, your farm will receive additional happiness. Furthermore, your dog will learn a new trick for each doghouse upgrade.

The Doghouse is one of those special buildings that produce nothing but raise happiness on the farm. You will find it on the Gourmet farm, and it is home to your own dog, who you have to feed for the happiness bonus to kick in. It is purely a farm pet – no workers, no production, just a better mood for your employees. It suits anyone who wants higher happiness and therefore lower production costs, not a player who only cares about goods.

When to build it

It unlocks at player level 24 and takes up a 6x4 area, so find a spot for it before you get that far. The first level costs just 50,000 dollars and goes up in half an hour, so there is no reason not to build it the moment the game offers it – even without upgrades it raises happiness right away. Only one on the farm makes sense.

Is it worth upgrading

Up to level five (which unlocks at player level 44) you pay in dollars and the price only climbs by millions, so it pays to upgrade as you go, as your level rises and you have cash to spare. From level six it switches to gold (3,900 up to 89,000) and the build time jumps to anywhere from 12 hours to 2 days, so that part is more for players with gold to spare who want to finish the dog off. Each level also teaches the dog a new trick.

Tip from a veteran player Feed the dog regularly – the happiness bonus only works if you really look after him, not if the house just sits there on the farm.

Most common mistake The most common mistake is that players build the house and then forget about the dog, so the farm never actually sees any happiness bonus.
