What it's for
Here you can choose which horse you want to enter into the competition. You'll get an overview of its attributes as well as a prediction for how well it will do.
The tournament trailer is another building just for the Horse ranch and, like the stable, you get it for free at player level 15. This is where you decide which horse from your stable goes to a tournament, and the system works out for you what chance it has of doing well in the race based on its stats. It's a single 1x1 tile, so you don't have to worry about space on the farm. It does have seven levels, but levels two through seven all demand player level 998, which is an order of magnitude beyond anything else on the farm, so in practice you'll be sitting on level one for a long time.
When to build it
There's nothing to decide here, you get the trailer automatically together with the stable at level 15. There's no point thinking about further levels until you reach player level 998, which isn't a realistic goal at the game's current scale.
Is it worth upgrading
The upgrade itself always costs just 50 tournament horseshoes and takes no time at all, so the price isn't the problem. It's the player level 998 requirement that puts it out of reach. Until level 998 becomes realistically achievable, there's no point counting on the upgrade at all.
