What it's for

A candy house accommodates more workers than a simple one. It makes your workers happier too, since they feel like they're at the county fair.

The candy house is a residential building for farmhands with a higher resident capacity than a regular house, but on its own it lowers happiness on the farm, by 35 points right at level one. You'll find it on the Main farm, the Gourmet farm and the Flower farm, and you buy it straight from the shop. It doesn't produce anything, its only purpose is to give you farmhands for your production and processing buildings. It suits anyone who needs more hands on the farm in question.

When to build it

It's worth building as soon as you're short of farmhands for getting more production buildings running, which in practice means all the time, because the demand for farmhands only rises as your farm grows. It unlocks at player level 29 and the first level costs you nothing beyond putting it up. How many to build depends on how many farmhands you need, the house adds residents gradually with each level, so work out how many people you're missing for the buildings you have planned.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading pays off, the number of residents grows from 11 at level one up to 59 at level ten, so over time you get more than five times the farmhands out of a single house. You pay for that with growing unhappiness, which drops from -35 all the way to -260, so with every upgraded level you have to make up for it with decorations or more houses. Prices at the higher levels jump into the tens of millions of dollars, so upgrade according to your real need for farmhands, not blindly to max.

Tip from a veteran player Before you upgrade the house to a higher level, check that you have enough decorations or other sources of happiness on the farm, otherwise your production costs in every building on that farm will shoot up.
Most common mistake Players often build and upgrade houses without any regard for farm happiness, and then they're surprised that despite having more farmhands their production costs have risen so much that producing stopped paying off.
