What it's for
Here you can see your cooperative's research. If you get enough cooperative members to participate, you can research new advantages for everyone. Knowledge is how we grow!
The research laboratory is the research hub of the cooperative village – it unlocks bonuses the whole cooperative benefits from, as long as enough active members get involved in the research. It doesn't produce anything itself, but it opens up perks that then speed up or cut the cost of running the entire village. Without members taking part, research stands still, because everything depends on how many active researchers the cooperative has. It really only makes sense for active cooperatives that talk to each other regularly and want to move faster than a single player could.
When to build it
The laboratory isn't sold in the shop, it reaches the village another way, by completing a quest, unlocking a farm or through an event. You only ever have one in the village, so there's no question of how many to build or when, only whether your cooperative can genuinely put it to use.
Is it worth upgrading
The building has one single level and there's no formal upgrading. Instead of a level table, what decides things here is the number of members who take part in the research – the more active teammates pulling the research along, the faster the cooperative discovers new bonuses for everyone.
