Cooperative horse meadow

Special buildings Cooperative village

It's one of the few cooperative buildings aimed purely at horse breeding, and anyone who breeds will get real value out of a bigger pasture capacity, while anyone who doesn't care about horses won't actually use it.

What it's for

At the horse meadow you can breed your horses with your cooperative friends' horses.

At the cooperative horse pasture you pair your horse up with the horses of other players from the same cooperative and let them breed together. It works through a so-called talent circle with nine segments that stand for the horse's traits and breeding effects, and the more your horse and the chosen breeding partner match in those traits, the better the breeding result you get. It's a small building, only 3×6 tiles, but essential for anyone who breeds horses on the farm and wants to improve the traits of foals on purpose. Without membership in a cooperative that has a pasture you won't get near this mechanic at all, because the breeding partners come from your fellow members in the cooperative.

When to build it

You can't buy the pasture either, the cooperative gets it another way while developing the village, and before you get started on it, it's worth checking whether the cooperative has enough players who care about horse breeding at all, because without horses offered by fellow members the pasture loses its point. If breeding is alive in your cooperative, it pays to go for the lower levels quite early, they're available from around player level 19. Higher levels, however, demand steady growth of the whole cooperative, the table has only 9 steps, but the last one needs a player at level 199. Just like the previous buildings, there's only one pasture in the village and it's upgraded jointly.

Is it worth upgrading

The main benefit of upgrading is the capacity of the pasture, meaning how many horses fit on it at once, the table goes from 20 horses at level two up to 75 horses at level nine, the highest one. More horses on the pasture means more potential breeding partners, and therefore a better chance of finding a horse that resembles yours in its traits, which directly improves the quality of the foals you breed. The build time of the higher levels is fairly long, the top level takes 17 days, so it's a gradual, long-term project rather than a quick upgrade. For a cooperative with active breeders, raising the capacity is one of the most noticeable upgrades, because it shows in every further round of breeding.

Tip from a veteran player If the breeding partner on offer doesn't suit you, feel free to put the breeding off and spend the time on other activities with your horse, the breeding meter can be filled up to 27 times and with each further attempt the needles may land on different, more favorable traits.
Most common mistake Players often jump at the first breeding partner they're offered even though their horses don't resemble each other in traits at all, and then they're disappointed with the resulting foal, when all it took was waiting for a better match or asking the cooperative for another horse.
